Consider whether or not procrastination is the enemy. If you’re a writer (or anyone who works at home), you may tend to think of it as your nemesis, but there is often necessary mental work going on during procrastination. The last time I was truly procrastinating, I went bowling with a neighbor-friend. That worked out so poorly that I got straight to work when I came home.
Procrastination as your Ally breaks down what we do when we procrastinate into three categories: working on something trivial, working on something more important, and recreation, and suggests a number of cures.

This is also a good essay on the topic:

I blogged on this myself, a week or so ago … hmm, coincidence that blogging about procrastination rises as the weather gets nicer? Didn’t they used to call that old-fashioned “spring fever”?

I’m thinking that the weather may definitely provide more options.

I come from a long line of procrastinators and I KNOW that when I am procrastinating I am actually working on it all in my head… so REALLY I am working, it just doesn’t look like it.

That’s sort of how I think of it too, particularly with writing. I’m working even when it doesn’t look like it.

I am not going to let my hubby, Mr Master Procrastinator, read this article.
