At the end of a long workweek, 20 Jobs that Have Disappeared can put your work life in perspective. Not only did your job most likely not exist 100 years ago, it might not exist 100 years from now! At least that’s true from where I sit.

God, I sure hope my job doesn’t exist 100 years from now.

  2. Hmm, we still have switchboard operators at my employer - though there are not so many switches involved, just a phone with a transfer button and a computerized list to look up the extension of the person the caller wants.

  3. I was an executive secretary (shorthand and transcibing/letter writing). No more typewriters, no more dictation, no more need of secretaries. Everyone types their own and it looks terrible. Most men don’t type a good letter, don’t know how to space, spell make new paragraphs.
